Terms of Service

LottoScan is an unofficial information service. It publishes results of US lottery draws, lets you check numbers you already hold against those results, and shows descriptive statistics about draws that have already taken place.

It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, licensed by or operated by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), the Mega Millions Consortium, any state or jurisdictional lottery, or any game operator, retailer or regulator.

LottoScan does not sell lottery tickets and cannot be used to play. There is no way through this service to purchase a ticket, enter a drawing, place a wager, deposit or withdraw funds, or receive a payout. No consideration is accepted and no prize is offered. Nothing here is gambling, a lottery, a sweepstake or a contest.

To claim any prize you must present the physical ticket to the operator that issued it, within that operator’s deadline and under that operator’s rules. LottoScan plays no part in that process.

You may use LottoScan only if you are old enough to purchase a lottery ticket where you live (18 in most US jurisdictions, 21 in some, 19 in others), and only where doing so is lawful. The service is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children.

You are responsible for knowing the law where you are. LottoScan is published from Canada and covers United States lottery games. It makes no claim that its content is appropriate or lawful in any other jurisdiction, and it is not directed at anyone outside those two countries.

Nothing in this service is financial, investment, tax, legal or gambling advice. Lottery play involves the near-certain loss of the amount staked. If gambling is causing you harm, the National Problem Gambling Helpline is available at 1-800-522-4700, 24 hours a day.

When you enter numbers, or scan a ticket in the app, LottoScan compares what it believes your numbers to be against what it believes the drawn numbers to be, and reports which prize tier that combination falls in. Every step in that sentence can be wrong.

The scanner reads a photograph using automated text recognition. It can misread a digit, transpose two numbers, miss a play line, read a line that is not there, misidentify which game or which draw date a ticket is for, or fail on a ticket that is creased, curled, faded, glare-lit or thermally degraded. Manual entry can be mistyped. The prize tier returned depends on the game’s tier table and on the draw data described in clause 5, either of which can be incorrect or out of date.

Two consequences follow, and they are the most important sentences in this document:

Always verify a ticket with the issuing operator or an authorised retailer terminal before acting on anything you see here, and before the ticket’s expiry date. If what LottoScan shows and what the operator says disagree, the operator is right and LottoScan is wrong.

Prize amounts shown are the published figures for a tier where an operator has published them, before any withholding, offset or division between multiple winners, and before any multiplier you may or may not have bought. Where a prize figure has not been published for a draw, LottoScan says so rather than showing a number; it never shows an unpublished prize as zero.

LottoScan does not conduct draws and does not receive results from any operator under any agreement. It reads publicly available sources, currently including the Massachusetts State Lottery public draw-results API; the Mega Millions official draw-data endpoint at megamillions.com; the published draw-result and prize-table pages at powerball.com; the New York State Open Data (Socrata) lottery datasets. These sources are operated by third parties who owe LottoScan nothing, and they may be added to, replaced or removed without notice.

Results are gathered by automated means, including parsing web pages whose structure the publisher may change at any time without warning. A layout change, a schema change, an outage, a correction issued upstream, a transcription error at the source, a delay in publication, or a fault in LottoScan’s own processing can all cause the numbers, dates, jackpot figures, winner counts or prize tables shown here to be incomplete, out of date, misattributed to the wrong game or draw date, or simply wrong.

Draw data is refreshed periodically and is not real time. A draw may have taken place, or been corrected, without that yet being reflected here. Timestamps shown indicate when LottoScan last read a source, not when the source was last correct.

LottoScan publishes descriptive statistics about draws that have already happened: how often a number has been drawn over a period you choose, how a set of numbers has behaved historically, how frequencies compare with what chance alone produces. Terms such as “hot”, “cold”, “overdue”, “most common” and “frequency” are used in their ordinary descriptive sense, as labels for what the historical record contains.

A number described as “overdue” is not due. A number described as “hot” is not more likely. A combination that has never been drawn is not more likely to be drawn, and one that has been drawn recently is not less likely. Anyone, including LottoScan, who told you otherwise would be wrong.

Where the app records a “prediction”, that is a claim you have chosen to state about a theory of your own, stored on your device so that later draws can test it. It is your assertion, not LottoScan’s, and LottoScan does not endorse it, act on it or suggest it is correct.

LottoScan does not sell, and will not sell, number selections, systems, wheels, syndicated entries or anything else presented as improving the odds.

The app can record a group ticket pool: who contributed, how much, and a sealed record of the tickets bought. This is a bookkeeping convenience and nothing more. It creates no trust, partnership, agency, joint venture or enforceable agreement between members, it does not hold or transfer money, and it does not determine who owns a ticket or who is entitled to a prize. Those questions are governed by the law where you are and by whatever the members agreed among themselves. LottoScan is not a party to that agreement and will not arbitrate a dispute about one.

Anyone holding a pool’s invitation link can read and add to that pool’s record. Treat the link as you would a shared document.

You agree not to:

• scrape, crawl or bulk-extract the service beyond ordinary personal reading, or use automated means that impose an unreasonable load;
• resell, redistribute or republish LottoScan’s compiled data as a competing data feed;
• represent LottoScan’s output as official, or as validating a ticket, to any other person;
• submit a photograph containing another person’s personal information without their knowledge, or any image you have no right to submit;
• attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls or the boundaries of another user’s pool;
• use the service for anything unlawful where you are.

“Powerball” is a registered trademark of the Multi-State Lottery Association. “Mega Millions” is a registered trademark of the Mega Millions Consortium. “Millionaire for Life” and “Millionaire Ball” are trademarks of the Multi-State Lottery Association. All other game names, marks and logos are the property of their respective owners.

LottoScan uses these names solely to identify which game’s publicly published results are being shown, which is nominative use. It uses no operator logo, wordmark or trade dress, and nothing in its presentation is intended to suggest sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation. If you believe a use here exceeds that, write to hello@lottoscan.co and it will be reviewed promptly.

Draw results are facts and nobody owns them. The text, design, code, charts and editorial content of LottoScan are owned by Lunana Global Inc. and may not be copied wholesale.

LottoScan is provided free and may be modified, interrupted, degraded or discontinued at any time, in whole or in part, without notice and without liability. Nothing here is a commitment to keep any feature, game, data source or page available. Do not build a dependency on it.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this clause may not apply to you. Nothing here limits any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot lawfully be waived.

For the avoidance of doubt, and without limiting the above: Lunana Global Inc. is not liable for a ticket discarded, not claimed, or claimed late because LottoScan reported it as a loser or failed to report it as a winner; for a prize not received for any reason; for reliance on a number, date, tier, amount or statistic that turned out to be wrong; or for any decision to play, not to play, or to select particular numbers.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so parts of this clause may not apply to you. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

You will indemnify and hold harmless Lunana Global Inc. against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, content you submit, or your representation of LottoScan’s output as official to another person.

These terms may be updated. The effective date at the top will change and material changes will be noted on this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms; if you do not, stop using the service and delete the app.

Lunana Global Inc. is a company incorporated in British Columbia, Canada. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. You and Lunana Global Inc. agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Vancouver, British Columbia for any dispute not resolved informally, except that either party may bring an individual claim in a small-claims court of competent jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, this choice of law and forum does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory provision of the law of the country, province or state where you habitually reside, including any right you have to bring proceedings there.

Before filing anything, please write to hello@lottoscan.co. Most complaints about a wrong result are a data problem that can be fixed the same day.

If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest survives and the unenforceable provision is limited to the minimum extent necessary. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and, for the iOS app, the End User Licence Agreement, are the entire agreement between us on this subject. Clauses 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 survive termination.
